I bought it looking for a classic-looking solution to my commuting-by-night problem and did not find that at all. The headlight is classic-looking enough, but aside from being somewhat cumbersome and not very functional (it is extremely dim), it never really seemed to work the way it was supposed to. The switch to change from high-beam to low-beam or (I assume, I never found out) a combination of the two was very unpredictable at first and stopped doing anything at all after a short time. The batteries tend to jiggle loose. I'm going to put it on my little brother's Schwinn Stingray though, where I think it will be a very nice accessory.

I knew when I bought this headlight that it had bulbs in it. As I am somewhat of a fabricator I was planning to convert it to a diode light as the rest of my bicycle is including the "stop lights" anyway. I found this was exactly what I was looking for and that it was extremely easy to convert to accept an 1156/1157 led bulb. With a bulb socket from a automotive junk yard, minor re-wiring and 8AA batteries (that power my 12volt lighting system) and a holder from radioshack, it now an extremely bright light. and good looking too.
